Carbotech Bobcat Brake Pads and Powerslot Rotor Review.

At 62,000 miles my front brake pads were getting mighty thin so since I don't run huge tires and rims I opted for just a pad and rotor upgrade.

The Bobcat pads are used by a lot of Autocross racers and after 23,000 miles I have found them to be excellent and dust free. Not much to say about the Powerslot Rotors except they also do an excellent job of stopping the truck. A great economical combo for those of you driving a stock truck and looking for more stopping power over the OEM brakes. .

I have the lift, and bigger tires, and this still looks appealing to me. It's not time for a brake job yet, but thanks, I'll keep these in mind.

I will be ordering these very soon. For the front and the rear, along with new lines. Thanks for the review...

The two big brake kits I've seen are for 18" and 19" rims only. Since most off-roaders run 17s, I also think their appeal won't just be for stock Titans.

That's good to know, I wasn't sure who besides old school Squid would use them but I'm very happy. I forgot to mention that I even have an install guide for you "do it yourselfers".

Thanks bud. I think many of us will be using the KB for the things some of you guys have contributed, for years. Even if we aren't able to do a particular job ourselves, it's great to have some knowledge when discussing the job with a mechanic, and some of them appreciate a reference too.

Ceramic pads on a street truck? Do they have a formulation that works at street speeds?
The reason I ask, is that previously, ceramic pads were used only on ceramic rotors as a matched set and required the racing speeds to heat the pads to working temperature.
I'd appreciate info you have on these street ceramic pads.

I got the setup from Mossy in California but unfortunately they aren't selling aftermarket parts any more. The price for the setup was as follows.

Carbotech Pads $75 shipped.
Stainless/Kevlar brake line set $150 shipped. (I didn't bother with this)
Powerslot rotors Fr or Rr pair $175 shipped (2004-2005 TITAN, ALL 319MM FRONT 758 PSL & 758 PSR 759 PSL & 759 PSR)

Here's the description of the compound used for the brake pads.

Quote:
Carbotech Bobcat™ (1521)
The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat’s operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat is suitable for all street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, your police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat compound has been found to go three to four times longer than OE pads you get at the dealership or national retailer. The Bobcat compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat is not recommended for track use.
And here is a link about the Powerslot Rotors. Between the Rotors and Pads I figured they would do the job without paying big $$$ for new Calipers and now that I've had them for over 27,000 miles I have now qualms with recommending them to others. I've even read where people who own RV's are using them on their rigs.

This place has the Rotors for $94 each and make sure you order both left and right. http://www.buybrakes.com/powerslot/a...san%20SUV.html
