Newbie Question about electric Locking diff

I am looking into getting a Pro 4x King cab and am wondering about the locking diffs can you lock the diff while in 4x2 or do you have to be in 4x4 mode to do so? Also, I have been a dodge man all my life I have a 2003 Hemi which halls balls it is not stock by any means how is the after market support for these trucks? Also, what are the dyno numbers on these trucks stock? Also, how easy is it to get hp and tq from these trucks?
thanks guys.. Oh ya what about the reliability of these trucks is it good bad so so I know they have only been around for 5 years right who has the most miles on them?

First Howdy and welcome to the site. The E-lock only works in 4-lo and you can rewire it to work in 4x2 but the truth is it's worthless for real offroading so most people go with the Detroit True Trac. https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=165_496&products_id=4068 While we're on the subject of aftermarket parts, beyond the intakes and exhaust on the market there is also the Uprev Nissan Titan Uprev Osiris Tuner
and Bullydog Bullydog not to mention a Supercharger and cams.

Since I also own a 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins I'm going to tell you that just with my Intake and exhaust on my 04 4x4 with over 115,000 miles on her I've yet to see the taillights of a hemi powered truck. Maybe I've just been lucky or the rednecks around here don't know how to drive? Regardless, I'm confident that a stock Titan will make you smile when you put the pedal to the metal which is why we still own the 04.

Hello and I would like to also welcome you to the board. Since the High&MIghty Squidster has an antique with high mileage he might not be up to speed on the current variant of these otherwise wonderful trucks.

2008 and UP. Can not use the TrueTrac. There are rumors floating around of another company making a locker for us, but so far nada. Suggest you get a pre-owned for a superior price with lower mileage. Like a 07 with the Off Road package. Save you coin, the Pro X4 is just a rebadged version with fancy seat covers.

Numbers wise they claim 307-317hp at the flywheel. Unlike your current vehicle ours has a much more efficient drive train. The norm is to see a bonestock Titan put in the mid 280hp at the wheels on a dyno. With simple add's like the CAI, and catback you can get near 300 to the wheels. Add a programmer and headers and the real fun begins.

There is a one guy I can get timeslips for running in the upper 12's without his NO2 and he is N/A. The SC for our truck is by stillen and is plagued with problems. DO Not Get One.

Jim Wolf Cams are a must have if you want power. He also makes upgraded valve springs which I would suggest.

UpRev is a true data-loggers wet dream for programmers. Ideal if you are a speedracer type.

IPT makes replacement transmissions which are also gonna be high on your list of Go Real Fast goodies. Complete package to include Valve body, Trans, torque converter, and addtional in-line cooler.

DO NOT BUY THOSE FREAKIN Pulleys if someone tries to give them to you.

Hope this helps. I am always snooping for more intel if you need it.

dodgehemi0 I see you found the thread by Austin on TT. I was about to drop a link here as much as I dislike that place. LOL....

I suggest you search for usernames: RB'sTitan and Toomnymods for cam info. I have not the money nor the desire to find out how hard this is. LOL. I know Toomnymods is the fastest Titan out there to date without spraying. He is faster than the one or two guys who can actually keep the S/C working long enough to test it.

Squid, I know there have been changes made, again I am not sure of exact changes. I was looking into truetrac till I found out it would not work. They flat out said no R&D time since the T might not be made anymore, or would be by Dodge. Rumors still running rampant. There is supposed to be a company making similar "PowerTraxx" but I haven't seen this updated in a while.

Go used, IMHO, for any vehicle. A new truck will be "used" as soon as you drive it off the lot.

My .

Anyways to be on topic, I have a question in referance to the locking Diffs. I just bought a 04 model that came with the O/R and B/T packages and have read in several threads that O/R provides the locking diff, but VDC and locking diffs are not available together. My truck does have a VDC button, so do I have the locking diffs or not?

Well Crap... after digging the old thread up I found out that the PowerTraxx is not currently on the line up. So this is yet another reasonn to go older. LOL.

Supposedly the 08's have bigger axles and seals and a different support part near the seal but I hear they still have leak issues. I'm sure Dana has refarmed the spider gears out for better quality control but now there is twice as many to break.
I have the TrueTrac and love it....my 05 spider gears broke at 10 MPH and no trailer.
I imagine when someone opens the 08 rear and compares to earlier ones they will know how much machining it will take to get a TrueTrac to fit and if it's worth the extra expense. That's what I'd be trying if I had an 08.

I highly recommend the Titan. Good luck and let us know what you get!
