This is great information!

So, spending $350 + to have the Jatco power-flushed at the dealer is basically a scam. In an earlier thread some of you advised against the power flush, but I've been putting off even a pan drain and fill, and feeling guilty as hell about it too.

I still might drain and fill at some point, but I think some are doing a power flush every 30K miles, or at least plan to. Not doing this can save them over $1000 every 100K miles.

I'd seriously wait until an analysis determined the fluid quality was going bad before changing oil.

Most likely, that is why there is no handle on the transmission dip stick and it is screwed shut.

Wow that was a good read. I am not sure what to do now. I was quoted $318 on sale for a tranny flush and fill. That is about $200 more than I wanted to spend. I personaly do not want to do a drop and fill myself. So what are my options now. I am at 35k miles? I want the truck to remain under the 60k mile powertrain warranty. Any ideas?

Send off to Blackstone and get a test kit for the thransmission fluid. Have it tested and then decide if you need to have the oil changed now or not.

Like Red wrote, a test by Blackstone is not only cheap but will tell you the health of not only your fluid but also your tranny and how I'm going to do it.

By the way 126,000 miles and she's still running like new.
