Good post! I've read several other articles on the subject, and think it is long over due. It has already had an effect by making some manufacturers (Toyota) drop their tow maximums and others to keep to a realistic standard. Need more towing capability? Get a 1 ton diesel! Duh!

Sounds like good news to me !! Certainly should eliminate some of the confusion...

I bet Nissan will have to lower their tow rating due to the new style 2010 hitch receiver and how badly they made it!

I'm just wondering how many manufacturers will drag their feet and wait until 2013 to comply so they have time to ramp up their trucks?

This is no surprise to the industry. I bet they know the real numbers now. Perhaps because Toyota is trying to rebuild their image by being quick, others will be forced to do the same to stay competitive. You can be sure their peers will blow the whistle if their claims are overstated.
