7 way RV Flat Blade

Is the BAT terminal on the factory hook up on the Titan supposed to be hot? Mine is not when I test it so my battery break a way is not charging. If it is and is not what fuse would be responsible so I can check it? Thanks.

In your previous post you mentioned you hooked up a factory Class IV hitch. Did you install the fuses and relays? If your hitch was new from the dealer parts department, it should have included those components. If I recall, the power goes thru the brake controller. For a beak-away, the trailer should have it's own independent battery power source.

Yes, I did get the relays when I bought the kit. So if I understand you - the truck would not be charging the battery through the bat terminal on the plug, that is how I wired the break away to charge.

Here is a schematic for the emergency break-away circuit. Your trailer must have an independent battery mounted on the trailer. This battery provides the power to the brake electro-magnets which actuate the braking function.

Good luck.

Thanks, I got it wired. The problem is that the BAT terminal on the truck is not a hot lead. Was at the dealer today and the service manager said that the BAT terminal is not wired hot at the factory so that there is not a hot lead on draining the battery or causing problems, they want you to wire that on your own. I am going to wire the trickle charger onto the running light lead, way easier then running a hot lead all the way back from up front.
