Bit off more than I can chew?

Well, I retired my old Motorola cell phone for a smart phone, a Palm Treo 700W.

Talk about a leap of technological faith! My old phone didn't even have a camera, nor did I ever send text messages with it or hook up to the Inet. Nope I jumped from two cans connected by a string to a phone that is straight out of Star Trek.

Did I mention the learning curve ahead of me? Lets see, I've had to load MS OUTLOOK (I've no experience with it), Active Synch (ditto) and learn IE 6 or 7. I'm a FireFox fan.

The main reason I upgraded was my desire to use the phone as a BroadBand link when traveling so I can hook up to the Inet where ever and when ever.

Also in the learning curve is to figure out MS Windows Mobile 5.

I guess I'll get my arms around it but its will to be like going back to school again.

One of my other plans is to attempt to organize my life some. Seems I try to rely on my memory too much and that is proving to be a big mistake. Perhaps the PDA functions will allow me to get a better handle on my life.

I know this is a trivial matter to all you computer jocks out there and members of the "connected Generation", but to me it is a huge leap.

Wish me luck.

just think how Alexander Graham Bell would react to your new phone, lol...

congrats Red, squid/rob05 have plenty of hands on experience with pda/palm phones so i'm positive you'll get some tips and ideas from them.

HAHAHA......I knew it! Welcome to the new Millennium Red! I also have a Treo 700wx. Trust me, after you use it for a year you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

The Treo is a great phone.... Believe me, I have to support these along with Blackberry's where I work. The support side over everything sucks, b/c we have everything going through a server, and the server is picky. Anyway, congrats on the new phone; I've been thinking of going back to the old analog brick phone :-)

there's no way you've bitten off more than you can chew, though Red........perhaps right now it seems that way, but after you get the hang of that ingenious device (which I have not yet purchased either!!), you'll be glad you got all the goodies to start with........

Several years ago, I bought PalmIII thinking it would change my life, and make me more organized... All it taught me was that I was better at scrawling notes on paper (faster) and pencils didn't need to have their batteries recharged.

Good luck!

I have the 700w too...love it! Although, I didn't opt for the extra $50/month internet access. I thought that was a little steep for how often I would use it. I just needed it for some applications at work. Like others said, once you get used to it, you won't be able to live without it!

Palm did suck along with the Sony Clie and their stupid gobbably gook writing style but the Pocket PC's are just little Windows computers with word, excel, IE etc.

Like I wrote on the other thread the cool thing is you can do all you're typing and inputing on your home/work computer and just sync them and out the door you go with all your info. Makes shoping at Lowes/Home Depot a breeze.
