Nope! Not going to do it. XP pro is working great and I really don't see any reason to upgrade unlike when XP came out.

I meant IF you're going to do it by way of purchasing Vista rather than get it with a new computer, you may as well do it now if you are going to do 32 bit.

you're right, OEM sucks not to mention the price isn't going to be dropping any time soon.

I think I'll let the original version pass. I might pick it up after the first service pack, and after all of the hardware vendors have had time to write good drivers for it.

I've seen OEM Home ultimate going for less than OEM XP Pro.

I don't mind it. The main ???? off for me is although I can get all the programs I really need to run on it, my gps software and maps refuse. I'm considering running in dual boot until all of the drivers get resolved, but other than that longhorn is cool.

Kenny, can you convert to dual boot without having to wipe the HDD and start all over?? It requires a separate partition for each OS doesn't it??

Only if it was set up as a dynamic disk. The way I did mine was to get another hard drive and use the new one to install Vista. It's convenient because my BIOS has a boot order that will choose individual hard disks. But if yours doesn't do that you can plug and unplug power to swap.

While I haven't actually tried yet, there's a lot of info on the web on how to do it.

The way I'm considering is by loading it on one of my external hard drives. I'm not planning on using it a lot, just for the programs where I absolutely have to, and I'm not really high on the idea of devoting another 10 gigs of my hard drive to it. I have to wait until I'm done working this job though--I didn't think to bring my copy of xp out to work with me. I'm not really sure this will work, but everything I know about computers I learned by screwing them up and having to fix them, so why should Vista be any different? I'll post my results--assuming I don't turn my computer into a paperweight.

Well, if you have a sound card that uses EAX, you'll have a surprise ahead...
