Exclamation Shackle Mounts Cracking

I have the PRG Total Chaos Lowering Shackles and Deaveer C-10 leaf pak....no problem from them other than rust.
The shackle mount that is welded to the frame is cracking on the left and right sides of the truck. This is where the lower half of the leaf spring shackle attaches.
Left and Right pics. included.
Has anyone looked here?!
73K miles.

If I read your post correctly, it is the stock mount that is cracking. From the photo, I would guess that the cracks are forming from the added stress on the mount from the extended PRG mount. The added leverage of the lowering mount is putting un-designed for stresses on the stock mount.

I wonder if the cracks could be repaired by welding the cracks. You would have to "vee" out the crack to properly do the weld correctly. Another issue are the stresses in the mount from the stamping, but I would think the OEM would have stressed relieved the stampings.

Keep us informed of what you end up doing please.

Following Red's info, I wonder if the welding process itself contributed to hardening the mounts, and lead to the cracks. When I worked for Cat, we would stress relieve various welded assemblies for just that reason.

make sure to get that surface rust off and spray some rustoleum on there... you've got some serious corrosion over there.
