The area they chose to put it, in the downtown area. Is very much land-locked. I am sure that in the budget considerations the demolision of multiple buildings was an issue. They put it in next to the convention center that can't grown much more, then put in a basketball pit for the other sorry ased team we have here.

They were trying to make the downtown area more appealing. Since the visitors in the hotels and the taxes the generate are "Supposed" to be paying for all the new Temples to Modern Sports. I find that humorous since we are still paying for the Astrodome.:abuse:

We went with the build the stadium first and then build up around it in downtown. The construction is starting on the Ballpark Village around new Busch soon, which is cool.

Still could have made the wall taller.

I am sure they could have built the wall taller, but it isn't about whos wall is higher. It about Butts in the Seats. If you waste income generating seat space with something dumb and green, it means more for the tickets. Baseball is about the only thing going that you can get for under a 100 bucks for a family of four. And that includes parking. Just one football ticket cast that, and the seats are so cramped you might as well watch it form the house.

Oh, and our football team sucks ass......LOL

We're coming at ya' Saint Louie!!! Now - can we TCB against the Braves this weekend????

If we end up tied with the Cards....we own the tiebreaker 9 to 7.

8.5 games back just 9 days ago...UNBELIEVABLE.

sorry stros fans! great run at the end but just a bit short! would have probably been different if Clemens didn't take his sweet @ss time deciding whether or not to come back! could've been the few games won that you would have needed to at least back into the playoffs!!! i dunno? anyhow, it sucks! i know the feeling!

Had a good late run but that's a little too little too late. At least it went down to the last game of the season. Two weeks ago everyone had them for dead. Oh well maybe next year.

Great season Cardinals. For the Astros it was the old cliche': too little too late. Regarding that one game playoff, I had originally thought that the head to head record would be the deciding factor but, that is only true if the breaking of the tie would result in the losing team being the Wild Card team. Since that would not have been the case between the Astros and Cardinals - MLB rules promulgate a 1 game playoff the day after the season ends. I guess they figure since one team will be completely missing the post season it is important enough to settle the score on the field - makes sense I guess.

hooligan regarding your comments about Clemens coming on board late...if the Astros offense would have just given him some semblance of support his record would have been much better and maybe they would have made it. In 2005 when he pitched all year like that - he was spent and pretty much worthless in the playoffs. I did not have any problem with him coming on board late in June - matter of fact I thought it was the bright thing to do.

stoog: There is no evidence of Rocket using anabolic steroids. Jeff Brantley on said on ESPN Baseball Tonight tonight that a source "as close to the situation as you could get" said that Jason Grimsley told investigators that if you are looking for stars such as Clemens, Pettitte and Tejeda...you are barking up the wrong tree. Brantley says it was the investigators throwing out names, not Grimsley. I know I am biased but, I seriously doubt Clemens and Pettitte ever used any banned substances.
