I have the AT Check Light lit, anybody know what that is? Is it related to the transmission? I noticed after putting the truck in reverse, that it jumped like it was having a hard time going in to reverse. While putting the truck in to drive, it will not go anywhere. I know all of this points towards the transmission, is there anything that I should know before taking it in to the dealership? Anything that I might be able to do to troubleshoot the issue? My truck is getting to that age when it seems like everything is breaking down. I want to keep it so much, but, if it keeps giving me these problems I'd be better trading it in for a new one. Any and all help will be appreciated!!

I wonder if you have trans fluid loss. That might be the cause of rough shifting and loss of going forward. Hit any rocks lately? Of course the larger tires and wheels haven't helped any.

Well, the AT Check light went off, and now the transmission is engaging when I put it into drive. I'm gonna take it to the shop tomorrow to have them check it out, and to see if they can pull some codes. I'm hoping this isn't gonna cost too much, but am prepared for the worst. Thanks Red!!

My 04 done this several years ago. Did you shift into gear pretty quick? I done that trying to catch a guy leaving the plant and the tranny went into limp mode. It jerked into reverse and then wouldn't hardly go anywhere in D. I limped out of the drive isle in the parking lot, shut the truck down, waited about a minute and then cranked back up. Had no problems then. Went ahead and took it to the dealer just to be on the safe side, and the tech asked me about the shifting and from what I told him he said that the truck went into limp mode to prevent any damages to the tranny. He checked it out and everything was fine. Never had an issue since then. So take your time when shifting after start up.
