Front skid plate on 2wd.

Well driving home yesterday and hit a pot hole, and lost the front skid plate about 3 miles from the house in the middle of nowhere. Crawled under it and looked and 1 bolt was all that was holding it in. Didn't have my tools in the tool box, had to take them out the other night to put up a ceiling fan, called the house and no one home. Called my mother-in-law and the father-in-law hadn't made it home yet, but my useless brother-in-law was there, had him bring down some metric and standard open end wrenches, took off the skid plate and came back home and tried to re-install it and the 2 back bolts were stripped. Ended up putting it back up with cable ties to hold until I can get them drilled and re-tapped. Anybody ever had this happen to them? Just thought that I would post and let everyone know about my grand noisy ride home.

Mine has never fell off but I did notice when I changed my oil that I need new bolts for it.

yup, it was right after i launched mee titan off a huge fat whoop out at Plaster City, betweens mile marker 36 and marker 37 on the Superstition Mojave Desert Racing race course. smashed it and it ripped right off the bolts. after limping away it was hanging in place by one bolt, all dented and deformed. needless to say i took the skidplate, bumper, bumper brackets and all related bumper parts to the recyclers and did away with it all and had a custom one built.

Hoolis whoop I can understand, but I have to see a picture of this killer pothole. You sure it wasn't a dog, or deer, or honda, or something like that.

I'll have to see if I can grant your request. I'll try to get a pic of it on the way home this afternoon.
