My PRG Suspension Adventure

I decided to do a running editorial on my Big PRG Adventure so others that want to do this will have an idea of how to go about it.

After 3 years of reading, discussing and gallons of drool along with 100,000 miles of seat time in my Titan I decided she was a keeper and worthy of being added to my permanent stable of classic Vehicles. I also came to the conclusion that when it came to any sort of suspension parts/upgrades that there was only one place to go PRG Products.com.

So today I made the move and E-Mailed Greg with my driving environment so I can get his professional opinion of what parts are needed for my truck.

Howdy Greg!
After 3 years of forum reading and 100,000 miles I'm ready to get PRGed and after a ton of discussions with the California boys (Hooligan, SDtitan1, polar bear,swarren1 etc.) it's come down to this E-mail.

First I want to tell you that I'm the owner of a not for profit Titan site not because I'm looking for a discount or sponsoring but so you'll know that I'll be posting all information I receive from you and also the whole install and periodic updates/reviews of what I purchase.

Now the task at hand.

I have a 04 Titan XE 4X4. I live out in the country and own 160 acres and at times I need to travel across it to fix fence, rescue/feed cattle, etc. It's teeth rattling rough, full of ravines, small creeks, one river and all sorts of holes that when it snows you don't see until you hit them. Right now I use a tractor or my 72 Toyota FJ-40 to do this but the landcruiser is getting old and frankly I'm tired of freezing my butt off in the winter so I want to upgrade the Titan to do this and from the videos/pics of your truck I know it's possible.

As I see it, Max travel would be most welcome and if I need to change the front fenders to do this I don't have a problem with that. There will be cargo in the back and at times I'll be towing a trailer that I haul a tractor on but probably not a lot since I'm buying a 08 Titan later this year. I live in Kansas so the terrain is pretty flat with no rocks or boulders but it does Snow and since I have so many creeks and the river I see my share of mud.

Just so you know, I'm not interesting in monster truck tires or 12" of lift (We have trees here) I just want to get where I'm going and back without getting stuck, or smashing my head into the roof and loosening my teeth.

The guys were suggesting the performance package but when I told them all this they said to E-mail you. I own a welder, air tools, and my budget is open.
I'd like to do this once and be done with it so if in doubt more is better. (I'm sure I can adapt my driving style to your suspension package. LOL) Vroooom!

I appreciate your time and there's no big hurry with this. If you need more info don't hesitate to E-mail me or I can give you a call if needed.

man when I was in the Navy I went 5 years with no vehicle. I didn't get a vehicle until the last year I was in and that was a Motorcycle. I have every vehicle I've purchased since 1985 except a Harley Softtail that was stolen and the Frontier I traded in for the Titan.

Hi! my name is Squid and I'm a vehicle Addict.

Hey squidward.... I've never had any luck catching Greg on email. Your best bet would be to call him right around 0800 PDT and get him on the phone.

agreed. you've got to call him and say "hey, got a minute........."

I love the "my budget is open..." part.........Greg's gonna love that, he's probably rubbing his palms together right now! Squish, you plan on installing everything yourself down the line?

Yup I'm going to be a wrenching Mo Fo with lots of pictures and write ups. There's a small garage in the little town by me that said that if I give them the specs they can align the truck for me so I have that covered. May even install the Tru Trac also because that same shop can do the seals for me too. All I need is the PRG parts, my new Truck, and this baby will be up on jack stands faster then my last orgas.........uh sneeze.

Do it all...send an email, leave a message on his cell if you have it and on his office phone number. It may take a day or so but he should call you back!

Got a response and I'll be calling him bright and early tomorrow morning. Lets see, Calif is two hours behind me so 8am there is 10 am here. Okay maybe not early. LOL

The best solution I can offer at this time is the SAW coilovers with
our new PRG upper a-arms and a set of Radflo 10" travel rear shocks.
Our rear spring upgrade is really good (better ride and load handling)
but may lift the rear a bit much and may be aesthetically not as
pleasing if you want he truck level (it will sit about 1.5-2" taller
in the rear than the front, still less rake than factory though). This
set-up will will set you back about $2k. If your carrying a lot of
weight, I would suggest an airbag set-up. Please give me a ring as I
would love to go over every detail to get you the exact set-up you
need that will perform to its fullest for the least expense. Talk to
you soon...Greg

You guys are getting pretty good at this suspension stuff.
