Squid, the only possible "fly in the ointment" I see is the possibility that suspension mounts and locations may have been modified to the point it wouldn't be economical to make the change-over you mention.

If not, it's a hell of an idea.

Sorta flies in the face of your "Plain Jane No Mods Titan Philosophy!"

Still haven't heard any definitive answers on '08 suspensions, and differentials (Tru-trac compatibility), but just wanted to make a couple of points:

If suspension is changed from the Titan Classic, as Red Alert interjected as a possibility, you can still buy the new Bilstein coilovers with core/exchange coils, that bolt right in, from PRG, for the old commute truck, and some DRs for the rear. Continue to run Revos, and you will be set for the commute.

Point two is, since you have the old commute truck 4x4 get a 2wd '08 or even '07, and go PRG LT or MT, plus a Tru-trac. Short Bed/Short Wheel Base, and BT for the lower gears. You will have a hella nice jumper.

Well my plan for the future, or maybe even a mid size jump truck ... Fronty, Taco, ??? but 2wd plus Tru-trac or similar is a must have.

There are no changes to the 08 Titans suspension.

If I buy a 08 and PRG it for field work it has to be a 4x4 due to things like snow, mud and stream crossings. A 2x4 just won't make it thru it when it's wet or snowing, as a matter of fact stock 4x4 trucks won't make it which is why I've been driving the FJ-40.

Another option is to take a chance with the deer and just buy a car until the diesel HD comes out.

Oh yeah, I lost track of the application ... snow and muck. Instead was thinking about your CORR track or similar.

Then, maybe use the old truck for the farm with really good mudders, maybe the Tru-trac, and even snow chains if necessary, and the basically the same 2wd new Titan I mentioned in the above post for the commute .... same LT or MT kit ... the one with the smallest lift so you can use the 33" or 34" tires.

Too crazy or too much $, then a just a 2wd PRG spindle lift, plus coilovers set for minimum lift ... and maybe not get the BT, (for fuel savings), especially if you can stay at or under 34" tires. Also a True-trac for this commuter/CORR wannabe truck, or to save another couple mpg do this with a Fronty. On really bad commute days take the old truck. You could save enough on the new 2wd truck to pay for most, if not all of the suspension upgrades for both trucks.

For the old 4x4 for the farm just get the $700 2" body Radflos in the front for 2.5 inches of lift, or the new Bilsteins, with a 2" PRG level kit, and either the roughly $200 DRs, or the similarly proced PRG modified Bilsteins, (the silver colored ones), out back. Maybe not even touch the rear springs, or get one of the Deaver mini-paks, and a Total Chaos shackle. Less than $1500 in suspension parts for the farm 4x4, plus BFG MT KM 285/70/17 (33" mudders ... this brand/model is light so the the payload and apparent power will be affected less, and 33" for your non OR gearing), and maybe the Tru-trac if it still isn't snow/muck worthy enough.
