also, let me recommend you remove the sway bar once you step up to DRs, SAWs or whatever coilovers you decide to go with. the difference is day and night, allowing each wheel to articulate independently of each other instead of one wheel fighting the other one using the truck's frame as leverage. something, i should have done many moons ago! not to worry about the loss of handling characteristics from with the sway bar to w/o due to the higher spring rate used in the coilovers, it pretty much compensates for it.

Don't know very much about them though, 'cept what h00ligan mentioned.Btw, I want the new 2 1/4" SAWs. Greg says they have more travel than the 2 1/2" SAWs! He hasn't valved them yet for a 4x4, (because his 4x4 is at the fabricator's), and he didn't mention the rear lift range needed for them yet. Quote:

"A coilover is an automobile adjustable suspension device. It consists of a shock absorber or strut with a coil spring encircling it. This provides for optimal damping without torsional loads. " So the company SAW (or Greg) makes shocks for all the way around the truck, and springs to go on the front ones.

| what the stock titan has IS a coilover design. only thing that differentiates between the two is a true coilover is rebuildable, but what any stock titan has is a coilover, just with crap for a shock.

| I understand what a coilover is but what I'm trying to understand is if DRE makes 3 different coilovers for the Titan what is the difference between the 3, see? It may be rebound, travel, warranty, rebuild ability, uses nitrogen rather than oil, etc. Same with the Saw rear shocks, what's the difference between the 2 1/2 and 2 1/4 and don't tell me one is 2 1/2 inches in diameter and the other is 2 1/4. I'm looking for a little more detailed information and not just for me but for others out there who for one don't know what questions to ask. It would seem that Greg would sell a lot more if the regular truck owner that doesn't have a direct pipeline to him could get answers to these simple (to Greg) questions about these products (Maybe the new site will accomplish that) but until then I have this thread that I'm trying to use to get the answers from the members who have bought the products or asked the questions before I bug Greg. |

| Saw Coilover Okay I've made some headway. It seems that the reason there are two different Saws is that the shorter Saw is for truck owners who are looking to upgrade their coilovers but would rather not swap out the upper contrl arm (UCA). The longer Saw which will give you more travel, or as some say "Droop" require that you change the UCA to an aftermarket one. |

| As far as I know the Donahoe Racing, (DRE or DRs), coilovers are only available in one size ... for stock Titans. They have a 2.5" body which means their internal reservoir holds more oil than if they were a 2" diameter body. They also have an internal bumpstop. Just like OEM coilovers, they can be used on a bracket lifted Titan, such as a Procomp stage 1 kit. For the PRG 4" Performance Package, PRG adds a spacer, an external bumpstop, and aftermarket A-arms to allow for greater lift and travel over their original design capabilities. SAWs, (Sway A Way by Racerunner), coilovers are now available in three lengths: stock; the ones used in the 4" Performance Pkg. ... requires aftermarket upper A-arms; and for bracket lifted, like the Procomp. Since the stock ones and DRs can be used with the bracket lifts, I don't know why they, (or Greg), has the new dedicated size for bracket lifted Titans, unless it's for greater lift, or maybe for longer stiffer springs for more stability because of these trucks having a higher center of gravity. Just a guess though. SAW rears. 2 1/2" probably would stay cooler longer because of more oil than the 2 1/4", but Greg said the new 2 1/4" ones will allow for more travel, and should mount easier. Details are not available yet, and he hasn't even valved them for a 4x4 yet. But soon. Many of the products he sells are not one size fits all, so he wants to talk with people to find out their application before they purchase. An example of this is the aftermarket upper A-arms not being needed on the DRs or 2" Radflo coilovers ... for stock Titans. When I got my DRs, he told me there wasn't any reason whatsoever to get aftermarket uppers, with the DRs in the stock application. Another example, someone wanting highest lift, might be advised to get a certain coilover along with a certain bracket lift kit, yet another bracket lifted Titan might want the best to try and act like a prerunner, yet another for slow rock crawling. Then 2WD vs. 4x4 differences complicates things too. |
