I would've hate to have been the 608 miles & Broken guy. I've been pretty lucky I guess. I bought mine new in 04 and have only had the following problems:

1. Brakes (Fixed on the second trip to the dealer)
2. Purge control vent valve (Clogged with dirt)
3. Seat Belt Recall
4. King Cab Door wiring recall (my model not affected)

All in all I guess that's a very short list for a first year production truck.

I think Nissan's failure to market or improve the Titan falls squarely on the shoulders of Renault. Nissan has never been better that 3rd in Japan since forever. Renault has always had a culture of being "cheap" when it comes to improvements and development. They are willing to pay initially to develop something, but once made they expect you to make do with what you've got until its time for a new model year. No continuous improvement like Toyota or Honda.

In the F1 world of $100M or $200M EURO budgets, even the Renault race teams are forced to scrimp and make do with what has been fielded. Fernando Alonso, left Renault partly over their reluctance to spend what it takes to remain competitive in the F1 world. And he was the driver who took two driver's championships in a row driving Renault F1 cars. He moved to another team when he saw how things were going at Renault.

So it is with Nissan under Renault's thumb. When you enter a market as competitive as the PU world has been, it takes more than a flash in the pan to remain top dog.

excellent point red and being that carlos ghosn is in charge of both we can't ever get our hopes up. but regardless, comparing toyota and nissan has and always will be an apples and oranges comparison. what i was pointing out is that the elite toyota HAS problems equal to that of the bastard child Nissan.

I'm getting an intermittent P2262 code on my Heavy Duty...any ideas?

On a side note the people on my Tundra site aren't reporting those kind of problems and we're only just a little behind member number wise. Think maybe because they are sooooooooooooooo big when it comes to Automotive forums they real in more trolls?

I'm sure there are quite a few trolls, just like when this site started, but I think that a lot of the problems are somewhat common to all new brands, thin paint, etc, etc. I also think that a majority of their problems stem from the fact that the Tundra hasn't been out all that long, and is suffering its share of new model glitches..............
