| Genesis Coupe Well, Hyundai isn't the company you look to as providing a competitor to the Mustang GT or the G-37. Yesterday I picked up a copy of the May 2008 Motor Trend magazine. On page 86 the article starts by comparing the Genesis to the Infinity G-37, BMW 335i, Mustang GT, Mazda RX8, Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. Their "first Look" based article has the Genesis comparing very favorably with the G-37 and besting the rest. Two engines are available, one a turbo charged I4 and a 3.8L V6 producing 310HP. A six speed auto by ZF is available on the V6.
Given Hyundai's steady improvement in quality, while others have remained rather stagnant, and a promised price point in the upper $20s will be a real selling point.
I, for one, can't wait for a face-to-face comparison on these GT coupes.
My personal road tests of the Azera and Sonata have convinced me that they are worthy autos. I hope the Genesis lives up to the expectations.
I know there are going to be folks out there that "pooh pah" the Hyundai line because they are from Korea and relatively new on the market. Well, I can remember the same things being said of the first VWs (1957 was the first I saw) the Honda's and Toyotas in the late 60s. My recommendation to those folks is to not sell them short. Drive one and form your own opinion.
