Chrysler Now Offers Lifetime Powertrain Warrenty

As predicted things are heating up and someone has to loose..................wonder who it'll be?

Today
The Chrysler group will offer a lifetime full-powertrain warranty on all 2006, 2007 and 2008 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles delivered starting today.

Chrysler CEO Tom LaSorda described the program to dealers during a morning conference call.

Chrysler will continue to cover the rest of the vehicle with its three-year, 36,000-mile basic limited warranty. Vehicles with diesel engines and SRT packages are excluded.

Many Chrysler dealers had requested an expanded warranty, saying it would help them compete with offers such as General Motors' 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

The warranty offer comes as Chrysler prepares to become an independent U.S. automaker owned by the private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management LP.

Jim Arrigo, a Chrysler group dealer in Palm Beach, Fla., called the warranty move “awesome.”

“We’re going from having the worst warranty in the industry to the best,” Arrigo said. “To be the first in the industry to come out with something like this shows we’re committed to making things better, to draw traffic to your showroom.”

Arrigo said he considered the move a sign that Chrysler, under its new owners, would be more willing to go out on a limb for dealers. “I don’t think we could ever have gotten this thing done before,” he said.

Why are diesel excluded? At least only exclude the engine if that's a problem for them ... or are they going all diesel?
Wonder if trannys are excluded too?

Sorry I was trying to find the official release from Chrysler. As for the diesel I bet it's because the only thing that they have the Diesel in is HD vehicles, but that would sure go a long way to selling lots of fleet vehicles if they did extend it to their Heavy Duty line...................or bankrupt them from all the repairs.

Chrysler Introduces New 'Best-in-Industry' Lifetime Powertrain Warranty
on Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge Vehicles

* The New Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty – the first from an OEM and the longest in the industry – is a statement of confidence in the reliability of Chrysler products
* Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair covered powertrain components – engine, transmission and drive system
* Provides worry-free ownership for new Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge owners

Auburn Hills, Mich., Jul 26, 2007 - Chrysler today announced that the Company would extend its powertrain warranty from the 3-year/36,000-mile Basic Limited Warranty to a new Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. The new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty applies to most new Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles purchased from dealer inventory and delivered on or after July 26, 2007.

The Lifetime Powertrain Warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair covered powertrain components – engine, transmission and drive system. The new powertrain warranty is limited to the first registered owner or retail lessee. Customers should contact dealers for details on vehicle selection.

"This new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is a statement of confidence to our customers to the reliability of their powertrain. It's peace-of-mind reassurance for as long as they own the vehicle," said Steven Landry, Executive Vice President – North America, Sales and Marketing, Service and Parts, Chrysler Group.

To continue warranty coverage, the owner must have a powertrain inspection performed by an authorized Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer once every 5 years. This inspection will be performed at no charge. The inspection must be made within 60 days of each 5-year anniversary of the warranty start date of the vehicle.

Landry added, "The new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty underscores our focus on quality and customer satisfaction. It demonstrates our commitment to customers and the confidence we have in our ability to produce quality, reliable and durable vehicles. That's why we put 'lifetime' on it."

Customers may visit Chrysler.com, Jeep.com and Dodge.com for more information. A warranty promotion – print, radio, television and Internet – begins Friday, July 27.

Wonder if they'll actually honor the warranty claims, or squirm, and whine, claiming that undue abuse was the cause?????

With the 60 day window for the required "every 5 year inspection", 98.467% of the "Life-time warranties" will be null and void.

Remember that most Americans suffer from CRS, (Can't Remember Sh!t) ... or will procrastinate making the appointment until the very last week, and of course the dealer will state "we don't have a open slot for 3 weeks".
