Well gents, we are assured of a White Christmas here in the Washington DC area.

We currently are in the midst of a historically record breaking snow storm. Quite possibly the greatest amount of snow in one day for a December.

Right now, there is over 10" of snow on my front lawn and the weather pronosticators are forcasting up to 20" of the white stuff. With the temperatures below freezing, the snow will hang around for awhile and unless we have an unseasonable heat wave, we'll be white for Xmas.

Now I realize this is nothing to some of you who are accustomed to greater depths routinely; still it is record breaking here. All the more reason for me to stay off the roads as all the idiots will be out proving their manhood in thier 4X4s and end up clogging the ditches. Leaves no room for the rest of us.

If I don't post another missal before Christmas, let me wish you one and all a Happy Christmas and Merry times with your loved ones!

I am very, very well acquainted with heavy snowfalls. Had them all the time when I lived in the upper midwest complete with idiots in the ditches and farmers fields. Do I miss the Currier and Ives white Christmas? NOT!

Geez, they have enough problems on the east coast driving when it rains this would be a nightmare. It'll probably take a month for them to clear the streets due to all the stuck idiots.

Why I do live in Washington State. As I said in my original post, I'm in the Washington DC area. This is where all my family live. When I joined the USNavy, they transplanted me out west. There I stayed.

Squid is right. Washington DC folks tend to panic when there is dew on the roadways. At least it seems that way. Still it is a significant snowfall here as I measured 22" piled on the birdbath. The way the wind blows all this powder around it is nearly impossible to get a realistic measurement of the snow fall. Its deep for sure.

Anyway, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all.

It's probably that new truck smell eating away at the Brain Cells.


I was in the D.C. area back in 1992 doing some work on Air Force 1. Got up in the morning and left the hotel heading to the base when it started raining, 2 miles down the road there was a huge pileup and it took me 3 hours to get to work.................................cars everywhere like King Kong had come by and swatted them off the road. Unbelieveable..................

The folks here can navigate the twists and turns; the ins and outs of the Political scene, but put moisture on the road and it turns into a Senate Filibuster!
