Question Who can I ask?

All of us from time to time have questions on how to do something. I'm thinking we need a category that lists job skills, professions, talents, etc. Then a member who has skills in that field can assist. I would say that we would need a disclaimer that the information provided is for "information only" so we can protect the "professionals" in our midst.

As an example: Machinist: Red Alert, 26 years as a machinist. I worked on pumps, turbines, propellers, shafting, etc. Some CNC but mostly manual machines.

I'm sure we have engineers, Medicos, construction, electricians, Electronics, Audio, auto mechanics, plumbers, etc.

You folks willing to participate in this form of a "reverse directory?"

I've only been in wholesale/retail sales for footwear for 20 years, so if anybody needs to know how to survive on BS and spreadsheets, let me know.

I also have remedial skills in:
Saltwater Fishing 101
Coaching TeeBall
How to appear realatively sane while losing your mind raising 3 young kids
how to write checks while watching paid professionals do what they do.

I'm a fault isolation engineer for the world's largest manufacturer of integrated circuits, (computer chips).

I setup and run simulation tools based upon the production tester's failing datalogs. Output is a list of nodes, (wires/traces), that are potentially the cause of the datalog's unique failing signature. This helps the failure analysis engineers narrow down their search, from the tens of millions of other nodes that could cause the defect. Although the die of a chip appears small, when you zoom in it's like a super huge city, and I give them a few "street names" to look for the suspect.
To give you an idea of the size, 1000 transistors could fit in the cross section area of a human hair.

Used to be a printed circuit board designer and enclosed designer, an electro-mechanical technician, test tech for a high end audio manufacturer. In my younger days, a cabinet maker and house painter.

Good response. I'll work with Squid and see about establishing a register, perhaps in KB, and then each person can browse the headings and register their skills and knowledge there. If you don't want to enter the data yourself, once you have browsed the KB, then PM me and I'll be happy to enter the data and your biography as it applies to a particular area.

May take a day or two, but I'll announce when its ready for prime time.

Red, I think it's a great idea, however, there are always gonna be people that do the same exact thing differently that get the same turn out. I don't mind being the techie guy, but, I'm sure there are a bunch of us that could analyze something that would yield the same results. Anway, I still think it's a great idea.

TT05, oh I agree completely. Just look at all the suggestions/options that came up when I asked about a small inverter

Perhaps the person asking will get three ideas. Maybe one works best for him or maybe a combo of all three. I find that I learn from others, even when I've been successful in doing it on my own.
