I can't believe you're already throwing in the towel. There's still a chance.....................Where'd they goooooooooooooooooooo?

Anyway it's a blast and yes there's an element of luck like with all sports but I think everyone who's played will admit it also takes a little work/research too. I'm playing again next year for sure...................geez that's only 3 months away.

I learned a lot about rednecks driving in circles this year. I still dont know how they register more points but it has to do with laps run, laps led, and final standings (I think).
One small correction there Bootski...you pick 8 drivers for every race but end up starting only 4
(1 A class, 2 B class, and 1 C class).

This is how Yahoo! determines the score (from their rules section):

"Each driver can receive a maximum of 90 fantasy points during each race. The top 45 finishers receive points, with the winning driver getting the maximum 90, and other drivers receiving 2 fewer points for every spot they finish behind the leader (e.g., the second-place driver gets 88 points, the third-place driver gets 86).

You receive the total points earned by all active drivers on your team provided that they have not already been active in nine races (see the Maximum Starts section for more information).

Bonus points are awarded to each of the drivers with the 4 best starting positions after qualifying. The top qualifier receives 10 bonus points, the second receives 5, the third receives 3 and the fourth receives 1. Because qualifying for Daytona 500 is broken up over 2 days, these bonus points are not awarded for the Daytona 500.

An additional 10 bonus points are awarded to each driver who leads at least 1 lap during a race. The driver leading the most laps during a race also earns another 10 bonus points. To earn these bonus points for your fantasy team, a driver must be on your team and active during the race.

If a race is officially canceled, no fantasy team receives any points for that race. All other scoring rules stay the same. If qualifying or a race is delayed or postponed, no points are awarded until it is completed. If qualifying is canceled and the starting grid is determined by Nextel Cup points standings, no qualifying bonus points are awarded."

The new season will start at Daytona early next year (February) and will be open to any and all who wish to participate!!

I for one had a blast and it couldn't have been any closer. Thanks Commish for running another great Fantasy league and I can't wait to get started again in Feb.

Mr. B,

Stay tuned to this thread late Jan/early Feb next year and we will teach you how to play. Basically you pick 8 drivers every week and use 4 for racing with a 9 start max. for each driver. The main thing is to stay active every week or else you will not win. The winner is someone who, at a minimum, gives his/her full attention week-in/week-out. You miss one week of picking your drivers and you are most probably done (as far as first place is concerned).

see this link for rules: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/racing/rules/

The season is long (Feb. to Nov.) and requires perseverance!!!

Good luck!! The Commish

Thanks for all the information, TTXE ..... I think that fantasy racing requires far more attention than what I can muster up ...... soooo, I think Squid's future of being a repeat champion looks pretty good.....

It doesn't really take that much time. You just have to do it every week (for the most part).

That would be a no go!! My win was VERY ugly but, it will allow me to keep my first place position (barely)!!
