Not Titan, but interesting....

Here is a video on Ford vs. Tundra frames. Made by Ford:
Ford F150 vs Toyota Tundra - Frame Strength

Comments?

if it's true, 3" is a bit too much flex I would think, the frame looked a little scary flexing that much.......it was only what, 270+ lbs on the corner??

You know stiffness is really good for your night moves. But, flexibility is a bonus in most structural situations. If your frame is too rigid, it will break or be subject to breaking. Flexing allows some give.

I watched the video and I wasn't really sure what they were trying to prove and I'm not sure the Toy frame is all that bad. After all, it was designed using the most modern technology and theory. I don't think they attempted to skimp, so I have to believe that it is well suited to its duty. You can be sure the Ford test was carefully designed to highlight their frame at its best. In that particular instance. Overall, how does it fare?

I'm trying to figure out why the back of the F-150 frame looks so much more built up than the Tundra? The other thing is if the Tundra goes back to 0 when the weight is removed then what's the big deal? Maybe Toyota designed it this way to help keep the rear wheels to the ground over rough conditions, or maybe it has something to do with crumple zones or maybe the cab adds the extra strength by the way it's mounted? This is kind of like the Bed bolt video, it just leaves me thinking "how pathetic".

It's because Toyota's frame is 1/3 closed box, part reinforced C channel and part open C channel. And @ Hiya, the Titan has a fully closed box frame like the Ford. I love the interior of the Tundra, but I'd rather my Titan or a 150 or even a Dodge and use mods to raise the power.
