| A big "buzz" amongst all the US refiners started about 15 years ago ...... a push for retro-fitting our refineries with some expensive equipment that removes ALL sulphur from diesel began ...... many refiners has implemented this process and can now produce a fairly new product called Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel ....or ULSD, as we call it .... this new process is expensive and technilogically difficult to operate .... very tedious .... but the end results are diesel fuel that doesn't emit sulphur into the atmoshere .... Low Sulphur Diesel (LSD) and Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) are not one in the same ..... as more ULSD becomes available, the design of diesel engines will steadily improve ..... if anybody is intrested, an eccellent book called " Petroleum Refining in Nontechnical Language" by William L. Leffler is available ..... I got mine at a big book store in a mall ....I don't remember what the stores name was, though.
