Nissan Van

Nissan has announced a new van for scheduled spring delivery:

Toyota and GM sales, Nissan's new NV van and Detroit Auto Show crowds - NWautos

From the limited info and picture, it looks very much like it has a Titan front end...A pillar forward to me.

I wonder how heavy duty the running gear will be?

Saw that new van in a local magazine, has a real european look like those new little Ford vans, short length wise but tall profile...

I'll be interested in looking at this. I'm trying to figure out how best to transport my bikes to the track. Since I'll be going riding across the USA I'll need something large enough to haul all my gear, tires, parts, tools and bikes along with room for me to throw out a sleeping bag. I've been looking at both toy haulers and Horse trailers along with smaller RV type setups.

Toy Hauler

Squid, I found this awhile ago; a toy hauler trailer with spartan accommodations built-in. Fairly light weight and yet has all the needed features:

Thanks RED! I'm going to have to find someone that sells them so I can take a look.

Yeah, they don't seem to have all that many dealers. Last year when I first looked at them, they were running $14K to $18K. I expect that has gone up as they look more polished now.

Back in Feb. I first mentioned that Nissan had come out with a HD Van. Well, today I got my first look at one. It was the 2500 HD model. It comes as a 1500, 2500, & 3500 in both low roof and high roof. The high roof one I looked at has a 72" high door with a vertical split, like French Doors in a house. The floor was flat all the way from the door to the back of the two seats in front. There were no windows aft of the front seats in the one I looked at and the side walls were bare except for partial covering with what looked like "Masonite." Between the front seats there was as a large center console, big enough to hold a laptop, etc.
Sticker had a price of $32K. The engine was our 5.6L, 317HP, 385lb/ft V8. A 241HP, 4.0L V6 is also available.
Also, I just noticed in the June 2011 issue of Cycle World, on page 20, there was a small mini-review of the Nissan Van. Favorable write-up when considering its use to tote motorcycles around.

With the VK56, the new van should be pretty strong...

Her Holiness, aka known as Mrs Coot has been making noises about trading in her Titan for one. With the headroom, it would be great for use in the rescue. I haven't stopped in for a look see tho'
