Actually I joined a year ago but I keep having problems logging in, thanks for noticing. Anyways, I use my Titan for work. I am involved in cattle and hay production so I put this half ton to the max. I bought my Titan over a year ago from a customer who sells used vehicles and up until that day I had never heard of one. My 2008 Titan is the King Cab work model, bucket cloth seats, vinyl interior, 4 by 4. I bought a factory class 4 hitch for it. Most of my towing is pulling standard hay wagons with no toungue weight but then I also haul a 16 foot stock trailer rated at 7000 lbs., mostly I do not have it full. I have not been using a equilizer hitch but I did add an extra leaf. I got a small equipment trailer going today, it is a 10,000 lb. trailer, probably weighs 3000 lbs. empty and I had around 3500 lbs. of round bales on it and I figured that should be the max based on ratings of my Titan, handled it no problem. My Titan usually weighs in at around 6400 lbs. with myself and a half a tank of gas and 50 lbs. of various tools, so I figured I am keeping it within the limits. I also have a 2000 GMC 2500 and a 1980 Chevy one ton for the heavier work but those vehicles are pretty beat up and not as road worthy so the Titan is getting used more then I wanted too originally, so I guess we will see how tough this pick up really is.

Nissan makes no sense at all................
I had read somewhere that Nissan was trying to market to farmers and contractors but leaving out the standard bed makes no sense, that would rule me out on buying another one.

Well if you are hauling that much around, you need trailer brakes. So I hope you hooked up an aux brake controller to help you control the brakes on the trailer. That is, unless the trailers are equipped with surge brakes.

At any rate, you mentioned you have a heavier truck for the big loads. I mention this because the Titan is rated at a max of 9400lbs and 940 tongue weight.

Good luck, and I hope you keep bringing in the hay.

My trailer brakes work fine, just put all new breaks on that equipment trailer. My break away kit is not working however when I tested it. I figured I am pulling around 6500 lbs. Looking in my manual the GCVWR is around 13,000 and when I run the Titan over the scales I am around 6400 empty with no trailer, so I am right within the factory specs unless I am reading wrong. Anyone else weigh their loads?

I use the long bed to carry items that have more bulk than weight. Generally it goes something like this: "Dad, I just bought a sectional for the TV room, can you help me get it home"? Or, in another case, an old gym rat buddy of mine's son lost his house, and we moved his weight lifting equipment....... The 8' bed worked great and allowed us to move all of this stuff in one load.

I still think Nissan made a mistake dropping the 8' bed. It is really handy
