Toyota and Nissan Shelve HD Truck For Now 9/26/06

Per Edmunds. But all is not lost it's just not going to be 08 for the Titan.

You are correct Mid 09 which would be the 10 model. Ten sounds strange I think It should be 010.

It said Nissan had originally planned to build a HD version of its current Titan full-size pickup but ultimately decided the existing platform could not support the extra payload requirements.

Supplier sources tell Inside Line that the next-generation Titan will be launched in late 2009 or early 2010, and a heavy-duty version is part of the program.
I hope 09. If there is a new model Titan coming out soon after I get back, I dont want to get the current body style and have it change 2 years later.
I can wait 1 year more with my current truck I think.

What this means to you: The boys over at GM, Ford and Chrysler just got a minor victory for themselves in the battle against market share losses.
It doesnt mean that to me.

Me either Shifty.... I think that once Nissan gets a good handle on the American heavy duty pickup market, they'll do just fine. IMHO

This report should act as a warning to all who would like to OVERLOAD their Titan's!! If NISSAN, the OEM, doesn't think the Titan can be upgraded to a HD version we should take it as a warning to avoid the temptation to overload our 1/2 Ton Titans!

I've mentioned in the past that the whole vehicle is involved in determining the GVWR an GCVWR, not just axle and spring issues and Nissan agrees.
