I think the Titan is gonna fall through the cracks, ceasing to exist unless Nissan decides to pick it up again.

As much talk and hype on this topic, it is bound to be powered by a new form of energy: HOT AIR.

I read somewhere that the Nissan Chrysler merger was on hold, with both sides rethinking the move. I think it was at Money mag. Darn it! I read it but was too tired to post.

FOUND IT!
From Money Magazine:
Chrysler, Nissan halt product tie-up
The companies are reviewing how to bolster the financial returns; Nissan will still supply Chrysler with a Versa-style compact car later this year.
From this, it looks like even the Titan name will disappear

I hate to see the list of trucks shrink. I firmly believe that competition brings out the best. If the Titan goes away completely, it just provides less incentive for the rest of the manufacturers to innovate. Then, every truck line stagnates............... Ok, ok, I'll shut up. I'm gonna' get a glass of wine and sulk in the hot tub..............

Did you ever notice that none of the other manufacturers used the Titan in their comparison commercials? Why was that? Because they couldn't compete, The Titan had such small sales or the Titan had nothing worth comparing against?
I never figured it out myself except that I felt they didn't have a product that would compare to the Titan.

In the beginning, I think you are right. However, because Nissan never really pushed the Titan in an ad blitz, etc, etc, sales fell. As sales fell, no other manufacturer HAD to compare themselves to the Titan.
As for reliability, the Titan has had the same teething problems as every other new model. Look at Tundra, Ford, Dodge and Chevy. They all overcame their problems, but with hardly any advertising, the Titan was doomed through word of mouth. I lay the failure of the Titan squarely on the shoulders of Nissan.
As you have heard me state time and again, I own 2 Titans, an 05 and an 08. They both are as reliable as sunrise. But except for here, nobody knows.........
