there's just no way a dodge gasoline motor is going in a Nissan... NO WAY... its sacriligious just thinking of it... stupid tabloid reporters! the VK56 is a fairly new motor design and as excellent as its been thus far, i can only see some tweaking done to the Endurance motor to match its performance with the 5.7L of the tundra. perhaps VVT-I on both cams and a few other enhancements. remember, Dodge is no longer using their saltillo plant in mexico. they're not building the new titan with dodge parts but rather FOR nissan. that's about it, with Nissan Specs...

good point about the Endurance......ALOT of R&D went into that mofo and it's performed fantastically and it would be stupid to scrap it already.........BUT speaking of stupid, Nissan has dissapointed in a few other areas too

Quite frankly, the Endurance engine/tranny combination in the Titan is the smoothest, most capable team I have ever owned. Great acceleration, towing, and reasonable gas mileage, considering. Two of my neighbors who own Dodge's rams w/Hemis are very disappointed in the ability to tow and according to them, "The ******* miserable gas mileage" that he says is 12-14 on the highway.
I don't think I would buy another Titan with the Hemi in it.......cheaper or not.... |

The VK is one of the main reasons I bought my Titan. Once I took it for a test drive I was hooked baby. I can understand all the business reasons and why Nissan may think this is a good move, but my heart says NO,NO,NO, PLEASE LORD NO, DON'T LET IT HAPPEN, PLEASE NO.

I agree ^^ .... I test drove the Hemi, Titan, and Ferd the day I purchased the Titan, in that order, and even though the local dealership only had ONE TITAN on the lot (early January 04!), it was an easy choice and I quickly drove her off the lot the same day, briefly leaving the dealership titan-less

As rare an event as it is, I was thinking what may keep us Titan owners loyal, and bring in a few bucks for Nissan is for them to offer the Endurance engine and drive train as an option. I'd be willing to spring for the extra expense, and for those on a tighter budget, let them opt for the standard Dodge power plants. Either way, people would get a good truck, and capabilities to match their needs.
