Need a step up?

I'm an old guy with short legs. I have a real problem getting into the bed of the truck.

Here is an item I've got on order and I'll report more once I've installed it.

Of course, if your truck doesn't have a receiver hitch, or you have something in it already, this isn't for you.

But at the price, it seems to be a good solution to my needs.

if it sticks out enough with the tailgate open, it's not a bad idea at all ... especially for those of us who are a little higher than stock ..... looking forward to pics when you install.....

I have a 5 gallon bucket that fit's perfectly between my toolbox and bed-rail .... a 5 gallon bucket placed up-side-down next to an open tailgate makes a perfect step.

you wouldn't spend $45 to look cool though? sh!t, you're going to be spending quite a bit for a Caddy for your little boy, a small step in lieu of your bucket would be a minor expense for your aging titan!

Update w/ Photos

Well, my hitch step arrived and I quickly mounted it on the Titan.

I am very pleased with the quality and function of this step.

When folded in its stow position, it doesn't protrude very far past the bumper. When I step on it, I feel secure and I weigh 260lbs in street clothes. ( Another reason I need a step )

I've included a number of photos which are pretty self-explanatory.

Perhaps I'll mention a few items. The Tee handle detent on the bottom of the unit, is very robust and nicely spring-loaded. The step is retained in either of its two positions; extended or stowed, by a locating pin that fits into a hole on the main support tube. Simple and secure.

The only minor gripe I have is with the "anti-rattle" screw. On mine it was a tad short and I'll need to either replace it or put a shim between it and the face of the hitch receiver.

I'll post the remainer of the photos in a second post.

That's pretty cool Red!

Now that you have your hitch setup, get out there and buy a travel trailer! I'll meet you in Oregon somewhere for a little camping on the beach!

Of course, if I buy a trailer, then I'll have to remove the step for the hitch stinger to fit in.

Have you seen or read about the new ProPride hitch? Pretty cool and made by the same guy who invented the Hensley Arrow.
