| Nissan To Reduce The # of Titan Configurations Not sure what to make of this. Just last Summer Nissan increased the # of Titan configurations so the Titan could compete better. Now they are going to decrease the # of Configurations to compete better. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...801200550/1001 Nissan to cut Titan offerings Nissan Motor Co. plans to cut down on the variations of the Nissan Titan in hopes of improving its chances in the market, said Mark McNabb, Nissan North America senior vice president of sales and marketing. Titan sales fell 8.9% in 2007 to 65,746, well below the Ford F-series at 690,589. The leaders in the full-size pickup segment, General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co., offer a seemingly endless list of packaging combinations. But at Nissan's volumes, the variations hurt sales by making it harder for the dealer to have the right truck on the lot for customers, McNabb said last week while at the Detroit auto show preview. "Our 2008 is dedicated to simplifying our package offerings," he said. By Joe Guy Collier

| that's just hilarious! they have the fewest number of configs available and they're going to cut them, to better compete? the dizzying amount of configurations on the F150 too confusing for people? they want to make it 'easier' for people to chose the Titan configs? C'mon McNabb......

| I am just guessing, but I would bet that Nissan is considering reducing the # of bed options. I see that the Titan has 4 different bed sizes available, if they are all available in the XE,SE,LE, and Pro-4x, that is a lot of different configurations. When you look at the relatively small sales #'s overall, some of those configurations probably have very low sales #'s and may not be worth the expense to keep in production.

| If we will remember, it was Nissan who raised the bar in truck performance in 04. Nobody else was even close. They are still at the forefront of performance and useful design............. But, hiding their product under a bushel basket, in a dark closet, under a rug isn't quite the way to increase sales. If nobody knows your product, nobody buys......DUH! No matter how good it is or how much you have improved it! It probably wouldn't hurt for all of their management to adopt "one company line" |
