V6 in a Titan

Here ya go read it and think. Can't wait for the Chicago show.

After owning a Titan and a Frontier I think that all you will have is a doggy Titan that doesn't get any better MPG than it does with the 5.6L.

hmmm. a V6 Titan.... I can't see that. Although, correct me if I'm wrong, they've started putting the V6 in Vettes. It could work, but, they would have to juice of the all mighty Titan too; and I would have to get into one of those.

What they outta do is sell a truck with an 8' bed. Motorcycle guys who hate their domestics would be all over that....

Even a fronti V6 with the long bed would rock!

I agree. A Titan with a V6 would give you a slower, less capable truck, with an overworked engine, and poor gas mileage

I can see an application in a standard cab version with a manual transmission. Sort of a real "fleet" truck for deliveries, etc.

I don't know if Nissan ever intends to offer as many variations as the new Toyota will.

I agree 100% squid. Why lower yourself to Ford/Chevy standards?? One of the nice things about the Titan is you get the magnificent powerplant even in the XE. I seriously doubt that a V6 would give you any better gas mileage. Best bet is to implement some cylinder shutdown software in the V8.

Definitely the way to go for the Titan, (cylinder shutdown), and maybe a couple of different diesel offerings ... one for a HD and another for economy, if feasible.
Here are a couple of TTz links on potential diesels for the Titan:

Now if the Endurance were a heavy cast iron affair, and Nissan were to put out an aluminum V6, there would be more of a savings. But the Endurance is already aluminum so there wouldn't be much difference in weight.

Maybe the next step will be a six speed automatic, as Toyota is doing with the new Tundra, but I don't know if this would be worthwhile as far as performance or fuel savings.

I'm with Red. I would like to see a standard cab version. I've seen some photo shop jobs and they look pretty slick. I don't particularly care for the long bed version of the regular cab Tundra. It just looks dorky. Maybe a standard 8' bed. Not 10'.
