SUVs Rated by Consumer Reports

I read in the January 2007 issue of Consumer Reports an article that evaluated 5 SUVs. BMW X3, Acura RDX, Mazda CX-7, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Jeep Wrangler. Interesting reading and the FJ was not recommended because of visibility out of the truck and poor road performance. The Jeep bombed as well. The BMW bombed because of poor reliability.

Also listed, but not tested were the Murano SL and Xterra S. The Murano had only an average predicted reliability but the Xterra had a better than average rating.

Might be worth your reading time if you are looking for an SUV.

More and more, I'm coming to have problems beleiveing what consumer reports has to say. It seems to me that their opionions are more biased than a 4th generation Ford owner.

"FJ was not recommended because of visibility out of the truck and poor road performance"

Take it from me visibility is not great, but not a deal breaker, and the road performance is better than most sedans I've driven!

I have to agree with steves. I've noticed that over the years, CR has seemed to base part of their review on what is politically popular. Right now, SUV's are reported to be the villains of excess, sooooo it doesn't surprise me that CR isn't big on them. Might be wrong tho', just my opinion.
