hey guys i am looking at buying a used titan i have found a 04 xe with the off road package with 122,000 miles on would that be to many miles on a new used truck

it is a lot of miles i guess when it comes down to you have to look at the price and decide if it is really worth it or not. I would say look for something else personally cause 04 was the first year of the titan and there were a few problems with them.

That would be my truck and they would be all highway miles rather then stop and go in town so what I would look at is if it's got a tow hitch and if it does is it well used. If it's well used then there's no way of knowing what was being towed and I'd probably pass but if it doesn't have a hitch or looks to never had been used then I would feel good about buying it. The Queen will not sell her 120,000 mile 04 XE for even a new 2010 LE and I abused the crap out of her truck and now drive a 1 ton to do the same job, LOL.

Hi, Welcome to the forum.

This is a tough choice that means you need to do some serious research into this particular truck. If at all possible, check to see what the service records show as to maintenance, factory recalls, (there were a couple) and for sure it would be worth money to have a qualified mechanic do a check to see what condition the engine, trans, brakes and differential are in.
I have an '05 and have low miles, 38K, and have had no problems with mine.

Welcome to the site. Is the truck from a private individual or a dealer? I had an 04 4x2 and I totalled it out with around 118k on the odometer. I had my share of recalls and TSB's. I Regardless private seller or dealer, I'd ask for the service history of the vehicle. To me 122k is alot of miles for a first year vehicle that had as many hiccups as the Titan did. Like RedAlert said either go over it yourself or have a trustworthy personal mechanic look it over.
