Southerner stuck in the cold...

Hey guys...great site! I have been looking around trying to get advice on making some changes to my truck and the information here is absolutely incredible.

I am in an '08 Titan CC 4X4 and I am looking to improve the overall performance (although I am still amazed that this is even possible). Truck is mainly a daily driver but I also pull a 21 foot Tahoe quite a bit during the summer. I have been looking at installing a CAI but wanted to ask the experts if it has to be / needs to be paired with a new exhaust.

Thanks for the help and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Sig update

Thought you guys might like to see how I wound up here...I call this "How I got my new Titan".

I was going to call it "what happens when an a-hole in a delivery van with a suspended license runs a red light while the guy in the PAID FOR 4Runner minds his own business driving to work at 6AM and never considers that some f-er may come out from under that blind overpass because the light is pretty easy to see and nobody is ever in downtown this early anyway and no I'm not bitter, why do you ask..."

But I thought that would be too long.

Welcome PKdayga sorry about how you ended up with a mighty Titan but not that you have one now. About the CAI and exhaust. They work best together but it's not absolutely necessary. Just an aftermarket muffler does a world of good when you see the restriction that the OEM has in it.

Just remember that when you mess with the exhaust and intake you're going to loose some low end torque because the HP and Torque will be moved up the RPM scale.

this should be a, "if you could do it over again, which CAI and Exhaust would you get?"

i'd get a Volant CAI (sealed) and a probably a banks still but retain the OEM y pipe and just have it welded to the banks.

or scenario 2: Injen CAI (sealed) and a true dual pair of Flowmaster's new Super 44s...

Yup the Volant is the best intake and what I want for my Diesel and the Banks is the best sounding exhaust I've heard on a truck.

Yeppers like these guys said CAI and Exhaust set-up. Welcome to the forums. Hopefully you'll be able to come to a decision on the CAI & Exhaust. There are so many options. I went with dual Flowmaster 40 series. I really like the sound. The in-cabin drone isn't too bad. I took some getting used to, but now to me it's no louder than the stock system. As far as a CAI, I haven't been down that road yet. My truck has 88k miles on it now and I'm thinking that the current mods that I have are all that I need. Hopefully the truck will last another 88k miles, but new truck fever will probably hit before then.
