Question HD Radio

Anyone have experience with HD Radio? I'm planning on installing a JVC HD radio receiver. It plugs into the antenna lead, and has a mini-plug output that plugs into the AUX port on the face of my head-unit. For $40 it seems like a inexpensive method to try out HD Radio.

My favorite Jazz station just went off the air after 19 years of broadcasting. No other stations play a similar format... except HD Radio. So this is the reason I'm venturing into this, new to me format.

I'd be interested in your experiences with HD Radio.

Nope but I was intrigued a few years ago when it was first announced. They keep saying you get a bunch more stations and now you'll be able to tell us if that's true.

I have Sirius and am addicted.

I used to subscribe to XM. Now that it is about $15 a month, I don't think it is worth it to me to resubscribe to it. I don't spend that much
time in the truck to make it worth my while. The $35 it takes to get signed back up is only $4 less than it cost for my whole HDRadio set-up. And no monthly fees either. I'm hoping it works out well. Until the rains let up, I'm listening to my iPod.

LMAO !!

On that note, whats the difference between HD radio, pay (satillite ?) radio, & regular radio ?? Its not like differing types of TV where you can see the difference in regular TV or HD TV to some extent...

Because it is a digital signal, radio stations can offer more program streams at the same time on the same amount of bandwidth. Also it has no subscription fees. Sirius and XM charge $13 a month after a $35 activation fee.
With my current budget free=good.

In sound quality, but not in programming. No Howard Stern (thank heavens) but more choices than on conventional radio systems. I haven't installed my system yet, I'm waiting for warmer weather in the driveway. Mine cost only $30, so if it doesn't do what I want, it won't be a huge loss.
