Feesh!!

Went feeshing in the salt marsh of the Gulf near Cocodrie at a friends camp in lower Dulac La. There were 5 of us in the boat and here is the result....

If all the specks and reds we caught had been 1 inch longer we would have had twice as many.

That's a mess of fish. That's the one thing I sure miss about living here in the Queens land and that's all the fun stuff that there is to do in the South.

How about throwing some of those in a cooler with some dry ice (Crayfish and Shrimp also if you happen to have some laying around)and send it to me next day delivery.

I'm not familiar with those types of fish nor how big they are. Once you skin and gut them, is there enough left for eating?

You need to consider that I'm in the land of Salmon and Halibut. Or Ling Cod too. We usually are in the 10 to 15lbs for the cod.

I didn't time it but I know it took us an hour + There were three of us but only one lectric kneef, so we swapped off. The power pack dies on the other boat so we came in after 3-4 hours and two others went out and took our visitor from Canada. With the ones they caught, I think 8, we had 3 one gallon zip locks filled. If you've never seen a sheephead, you should look it up. The guy that owns the camp took some pics with a real camera, so I should have a picture soon of the mouth full of teeth these things have. Teeth just like a human! The sheephaeds we got were all in excess of 14" most 15-16 and a few bigger. They are thw size of a dinner plate and the meat is very good.

Here's a couple of photos I found on Google. They have teeth all in the roof and bottom of their mouth and then the front teeth...

Oh and I've found the California version is way different, a very odd and scary@$$ fish!
