Well gun season opened down here in the south this weekend on the 18th, myself, my good buddy, my father-in-law,and his brother-in-law all made the annual trip to Salem, AL to hunt on the Loose Tin Plantation. We drove down Friday morning and a couple of them bow-hunted Friday night, I went out and sat in a shooting house scoping out the area.

Went out Saturday morning and at about 5 til 7 I popped a big ole fat doe. She ended up weighing in at 118lbs. The 7mm really done the job. She turned a flip and kicked twice and that was it. Then about an hour later a good sized rack buck came out, He had stopped behind a tree and I really couldn't get a good look at him, he looked around and saw the doe I had shot earlier, then spied me and we had a staring match for a few minutes. He "winded" me and took off like a bolt of lightening. I'm not sure if he would have been a "shooter" or not. They only wanted us to kill 8 point or better and at least a 16" spread on the antlers.

We had to come home Saturday night, I think my buddy left something "turned on at home" if you catch my drift. I really would have liked to have stayed and hunted Sunday morning, but I got some meat in the freezer anyways. Share your hunting stories with us. Well I do not have any deer stories, HOWEVER I am very much into Duck Hunting. The season for me began in October 21st. With the limit being 7 ducks. I have been out 6 times and gotten 5 limits. On one day only 5 birds.
I will be going out again this wednesday, and saturday. Birds are slowing down, not enough cold weather pushing them down....This last limit, I had to resort to keeping 5 lower class ducks to make my limit. I do not wish to keep doing that. SOOOOOoooo please pray for bad weather up north.

Just last summer, me and my 19 yr. old son were squirrel hunting on East Beach ..... in Galveston, ...... I was wearing my BluBlocker wrap-around sunglasses ..... he had on Oakleys ...... we came upon a pair of doe's just as one of them started to turn over on her beach towel and .....BOOM! ....I busted me out a squirrel-shot! ..... it took 3 days to wear the grin off my face.

Did you dress her out right there, or did you have to pack her out over your shoulders so you could hang her from a tree somewhere? Close by I hope.

Btw, is it proper etiquette to leave the guts right there? (I would guess the intestines are saved for sausage casings).
