My new hobby....

Well, I have gotten into a new hobby. Shooting and finding random firearms. hehe.....

I bought my first rifle (ever) over spring break and have bought several since then.

Bought a Marlin .22 mag as my first. Then I built up an AR-15 in .223. Found an old savage bolt action 12 gauge shotgun at a local gun store and bought that. Then was browsing craigslist one day and came upon a Mossberg 12 gauge pump for a steal. The other day I found a 1944 Russian Mosin Nagant carbine at a local pawnshop. And there is a .22 semi rifle in there too. And the search continues.....

Here are a few pics of me and my friends having lots of fun with mine, and a few buddies firearms.

Well, except for the Russian and the .22, you will find ammo getting very expensive. .223 used to be very inexpensive, now well over $250 a case of 1000. Gets tough to go out and know you are spending more than a quarter every time you pull the trigger ;0

And other calibers are even more spendy. My .357Sig, goes for nearly .75 a shot.

This is the resident old nag speaking now: Please be safe, no drinking until the guns are put away and remember "Its always loaded, until you prove it isn't!!"

Your friend, Red.

Yeah, your right about that Red. I have found a decent local place to get .223 for a reasonable price. And I plan to start reloading soon, to offset some cost. And to have more fun.

And yeah, safety is definitely number 1 when i take buddies shooting. No drinking or doing stupid stuff or you don't get to play. We are lucky to have a few ranges within about 30 mins in the national forest that we can go shoot in.

How old is the Mossberg pump? Can you post a picture? I had an old one and broke the stock and wasn't able to replace the stock.

Just curious. I found it to be a really nice light gun perfect for partridge hunting.

Its a pretty recent pump. A mossberg 835, maybe 2 years old. Shoots anything up to 3.5 inch 12 gauge. Not much kick. Nice shooter. Like this but all black synthetic.

I was going to suggest getting into reloading to help with the cost. Shooting is great, but very spendy like Red said, and you are finding out.
Nice guns!

My fav rifle is the M-14. You used to be able to buy remanufactured units that fired in semi only. Very accurate rifle and a ball to kill dangerous beer cans and bleach bottles filled with colored water! (Nothing more dangerous than a wounded bleach bottle, they'll circle back and get you) LOL
