Underseat bin

I've got an OEM underseat bin. Only thing is, I removed it when we got the dogs because the travel back there, and it's just easier not to let them on the seats. I miss it so much. I've had to downsize my emergency preparedness kit. Ideas for me?

I have two Sterlite plastic trays/bins, (one for each side), that I bought at Wally-World. I also bought a 5 ft. pack of Industrial Strength Velcro in their fabric section. I cut the plastic side up into pieces and put on the bottom of the trays, mostly towards the back because the floor, and therefore the floor-mats curve upward near the back of the CC. Btw, this stuff doesn't grip the real carpet, but grabs the OEM carpet-like floor-mats great. With hard driving the curves, the mat keeps them in place, but in a wreck the trays and the mats would likely launch.

When I need the floor space they remove easily.

Btw, I keep bungees and ratchet straps in one, and up to 4 gallons of milk in the other, (with the seat folded up).

This might be a little crazy. Make a raised platform that fits the back floor. Covers the entire rear floor and cover it with carpet. The dogs have a flat carpeted floor and you get to store stuff under the carpeted floor. Sort of like the "Stow and Go" system in Chrysler Mini-Vans. Hatches would grant access to your gear. To a casual glance, the back would be empty and not a target for theft.

Now, if you have kids who ride back there, then I don't think my idea would be all that great

A removable platform that goes from the back of the front seat all the way to the back when the seats are folded up so it will cover your storage bin and you wont have to remove it.
Thats too freekin easy.
Good idea Red.

I like it Red. Sounds like another spring time project though... occasionally I have people in the back though... so I'll have to think through that one too.

Steves, I've given it some more thought. I think a nice aluminum angle frame that attaches to the rear seat supports and has front legs that rest on the floor. Make the frame split down the centerline so you could yank out one side for a passenger if needed (or both) and put the stuff in the truck bed. A little thought and you would have a nice system that works for dogs or people.

A tool box in the bed perhaps? That's what I have and i can remove it and put my tonneau cover on when needed.

The tool box won't really work for me. I have an advance cover on there anyway. I used to keep my 12v compressor, jump cables, rain poncho and pants, and a small socket set under there. I've moved that into the box I keep in the bed which also has my tow strap, lug wrench, and a few other odds 'n' ends (including kitty litter for traction if needed).
