VDC Simplified

VDC is basically just a computer replacement for a good driver and uses the ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) and TCS (Traction Control system) to control the trucks tendency to lose directional stability while the driver is talking on a cellphone or watching porn on the nav screen. Using a boatload of sensors that detect lateral acceleration, yaw and wheel speeds, the computer software determines the degree to which the vehicle is plowing (understeer) or fishtailing (oversteer) and magically applies braking pressure to individual front or rear wheels and reduces engine power to bring it under control.

So if you pull the ABS fuse or wire in a switch and then shut off the VDC you've now reverted back to a pre cellphone/DVD Playing/2000's truck with just power brakes leaving the driver to control it all by him or herself.

ABS is making it's way into more and more affordable 2-wheeled devices (motorcycles). I've had conversations with several riders who I consider to be 'advanced' and they have all told me they don't think they could out break the ABS systems in the BMW, Suzuki, or Honda bikes.

Oh how I yearn for the days when stomping on the whoa pedal meant being greeted with squalling tires and plumes of smoke .... and a quick, hard stab on the go pedal meant walking the truck sideways halfway down the block .... damn technology aughta be outlawed.
