Are you running a Bigtow or Offroad truck? If so the lower gears will reduce you MPG. Also most of us that report 17 to 18 MPG do most of our driving on the highway not sitting in traffic so if you live in downtown Manhattan or Insane Diego you're also going to suffer. I drive over 100 miles a night with a 70/30% highway to city driving but the traffic is light and my truck is a non BigTow and Offroad truck and I do check my air pressure every Saturday.

Hope this helps.

Looks like he's in H00li's neck of the woods.... traffic could be the issue.

Although I do not condone or recommend exceeding the maximum pressure rating listed on the side of whatever tire you're using, I'm currently running 52psi in my front tires and 50psi in the rear tires ..... the maximum on my tires being 44psi ...... the ride is a little sharper, but not as bad as one might think and the center of the tires do not prematurely wear out like some people would lead you to believe ..... I got 55k miles on my original 17" Bridgestone Duellers and could have easily got another 15k out of them ..... and I was running 60psi in those .... and I've been running very hard tires for 25 years ..... I believe that the real secret to better fuel milage in our Titans is being very vigilant in keeping the torque converter "locked-up" .... and it ain't easy ..... the wishy-washy slipping torque converters in our trucks suck .... oh yea, I also have an KC XE .... probably lighter than one of them "Nancy Boy" luxury trucks with all the back-up sensors and automatic mirror crap piled on them

You're gonna need a backup sensor after my SE w/ Big Tow gets thru with your stripped down XtrachEap.

Okay the last 2 commits cracked me up... But I do have the big tow package / off road package....back up sensors and all that other added COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOl stuff. well except nav...hell if you can not read a map..well you know. So anyways...perhaps Squid is right, and I do have a mix of highway and city, PLUS steep mountains to climb...all in all good or bad milage...I still love this truck, more than any other vehicle I have bought over my young 45 years of age.
