And you can get an OBD2 interface at Wally World around here for less than $70. Great addition to the tool box and can really ease your mind when that stupid light comes on.

Just last week I did troubleshooting on my neighbor's Honda Accord. Turned out to be the Vtec valve - the solenoid that ports oil @ 4Krpm to advance the intake valve timing. I'm still waiting for him to pull off the solenoid so I can see if I can fix it...

yeah, Austin is right on the code (possibly an exhaust leak, etc.) so i am waiting to see if the light comes on again. usually takes a week for the SES light to come on, least it did every time i reset the ECU. btw, there was a member who was adament that when you do an ECU reset it clears the memory however the codes stay logged? i read it and wasn't quite sure if he was correct or incorrect on that statement.

Depends on the car (and the ECU), and it depends on how you reset the ECU.

If you take the negative battery cable off, leave the car for a day, then reconnect the battery cable - guarantee you all codes will be clear. Radio station presets will be clear. Fuel maps will be clear (return to base fuel & timing maps). Everything written on E2PROM will be gone. E2PROM is where things like long term fuel trim, timing/load corrections & DTC (codes) are stored.

Most cars (not all) will drain all power from the ECU very quickly (and erase all E2prom as a result) by removing the battery cable and stepping on the brake pedal. I haven't tried it on the Titan.

A blinking MIL means misfire. Your MIL can blink and then turn off (single misfire), or blink and stay on (2 or more misfire events).

Code will between P0300 and P0308. 0300 is multiple cylinder, 0301-0308 is cylinder 1 through 8. Usually due to plugs, but with our gajillion mile platinum plugs that's less likely. If we had plug wires (which we don't), they're good to check. Can also be due to failed/clogged injector, coil pack and some other less likely things.

thanks Austin, i was hoping you'd give some insight! i thought the same thing on the spark plug wires, but realized we don't have any... but yes she seems to misfire and rumble like a funny car at the starting line!
