Ethanol is the enemy ..... it takes more energy to produce ethanol than what is saved by using it ..... remember, deluted gasoline is exactly that .... deluted.

Some '05 Titans are Flex-Fuel Vehicles (FFV). Look at your fuel filler door and it will state if it can handle ethanol (E-85, 85% ethanol, 15% unleaded gasoline). You can expect your MPG to fall about 30% because E-85 fuel contains less energy per gallon than gasoline. Mr. B is correct in his statement. Ethanol is not what it is cracked up to be.

What really gets my goat about E-85 and ethanol is it's nothing more than them theivin' ass farmers trying to muscle in on my Christmas bonus ......they're just lookin' for a quick buck ....hiring marketing firms to make Americans beleive that they offer a viable solution to our energy woes .....and remember, they took a crap in our spinach .... I can only imagine what they'd do to our fuel.

Thumbs down Ethanol is not the answer..

TexasTitan05,

I highly recommend you check this thread out:

Ethanol - Promises Kept?

I posted it to this forum from a very comprehensive examination of ethanol done by Car And Driver magazine. Very informative and shows you there is less energy in E85 per gallon and therefore your gas mileage suffers significantly. Like Mr. B said - diluted gasoline.

As far as Titans are concerned, I beleive that all '06 and newer trucks are FFV.

I doubt anyone is trying to tout E-85 because of its power content.

The primary reasons for E-85 and other alternative fuels are to reduce the reliance on fossil fuel stocks, use a renewable resource and to promote cleaner burning fuel.

For sure it is not the end all answer. It is; however, a step in the right direction. For many years, we have been able to run our vehicles on Propane if the consumer paif for a conversion set-up. Works fine, and is clean burning to boot. E-85 is just another step.

We are resistant to change, so there are sure to be negative comments and comparisons to Straight Gasoline. But we need to change a little bit a time now or our children will have to figure how to do it when the lights go out.
