I Fix'd it Myself

Yep, I'm talking about the leaking axel seal .... I had the first leak on the right rear fixed at the stealership under warantee back when the truck had 55k miles on it and the left rear has had a healthy little "seep" dripping out for a while ... My SexySilver Titan is now pushing about 130k miles and I contacted the friendly service writer at dealer and he said he'd fix me up for about $275, but it'd take all day .... not wanting to sit around the stealership all day and being the cheapest besterd I know, I swung by the WallyWorld and bought a bottle of "Engine No Leak" and a gallon of their cheapest, heaviest gear lube they had ... 90w\140w, I think .... I then drained out all that high dollar Mobile1 and poured in my new concoction .... it continued to leak for about a week and then stopped ... it's been leak-free for 2000 miles now .... this "Engine No Leak" supposedly swells rubber seals .... Just thought ya'll might want to know.

Thanks there, Mr. Sqiud .... Do you recall from several years ago when I was talking about getting me a computer up here at my barn with interweb access because my job snatched the interweb away from me? .... well, I finally did it yesterdee. My gears turn slowly.

The reason your gears run so slowly is because you that real heavy weight cheap stuff!! All that friction and then to top it off you pour in GOO to make the seals swell.

Might not be a bad idea to monitor those gears and housing to see if there is any sign of excess heat.

Welcome back.

That "Engine No Leak" is real watery .... but truth of the matter is that with 130k on those gears, they've worn themselves down enough to tolerate a thicker oil .... I did crawl under and rub the pumpkin directly after the first staight-through 620 mile drive from Memphis to Pasadena directly after squirt'n my conncotion in because I too recall some people being concerned with differencial heat ... and I'm here to report that although my rearend is extremely HOT, my differencial was still cool to the touch.
