looking to buy a titan but mpg questions

Whats up everybody. I'm currently looking to buy a new truck. I was at first looking at getting a regular cab f-150, but I've recently seen the advertisements for titans in which I can probably get a king cab xe for cheaper than a r/c f-150. I've been doing a lot of research on the titan and it seems like a really reliable truck other than the epa estimate of 12 mpg in the city. Ive been looking through the forums and I see alot of people who have put lifts, larger tires, and other modifications that are still getting 12 mpg. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a base of the line titan king cab xe driving in a small, cramped city like Gainesville. Can I expect my gas mileage to be any better. Thanks in advance.

Yes, if your not a heavy foot and keep it stock. On a CC 2wd stock I'd get 17 city to 20 hwy. On a CC 4X4 with a 2" lift and 325/60/18 tires I get right at 14 city and 15.5 hwy..... Still better than the 12 mpg your stating. And I drive in Los Angeles bumper to bumper.....

My mileage had dropped with age of the truck. I have a 04 KC SE with a drop-in K&N Air Filter and Flowmaster dual exhaust. I used to get 15 to 18 mpg, now I'm in the 12 mpg or worse range. As far as durability, can't beat the truck. I'm closing in on 100,000 miles and no major issues that a recall or a TSB wouldn't cover.

Wow...that's a pretty dramatic drop there kenum, much more than I've ever heard, I think.....

Mid-teens is what I'd guess for your situation Jack the Ripper.....no brainer between the titan and the ford. Even if the ford gives you a mile or two per gallon, the reliability, power, and overall feel of the titan will be better both right now and in the long run.

Hello.......i currently have a 2003 Nissan Xterra XE 4x4 that is paid off, i would be trading it in...........im thinking about upgrading to a Titan 4x4 king or crew cab (used, 04-06) in a few months, just trying do some research first........my current mpg is pretty low but i think its the big tires and slight lift..........i took a road trip this weekend and only got a touch over 13mpg averaging about 75mph.........if i decide to get a Titan (will be staying stock except maybe an exhaust) would it be safe to say that the mileage will be the same or slightly better with mixed driving? Im also considering the Frontier but i really want the bigger sized truck.........

Thanks,
Robb

You'll do a little better unless you get a Titan with the Big Tow package which has the lower geared rear end. Also don't let the frontier fool you when it comes to MPG. I had a 2000 Frontier with the 4 cylinder and manual 5 speed transmission and 20 was the best I could get. My 04 Titan gets 18 mpg driven in the same environment.
