My 05 with Big Tow gets about 15-15.5 on the freeway, while my 08 with a standard rear end gets ~17-17.5. Here the speed limit is 75 and everybody drives 80. (Including me, LOL).

EPA estimate ispretty accurate

I've been driving my 2008 for about 3 months. I've puttered it around town and had it on long trips. Highway miles, the best I've ever gotten (averaging 75mph) was 17.9. Around town, the worst I've ever gotten (driving it like I stole it) has been 12.6.

As far as the King Cab and the amount of room, I took a short, 90 mile road trip with three of my sons yesterday in mine (which is a King Cab, with the backward opening rear doors) and we all had plenty of room. And we're all huge. The smallest one in the truck weighs 180. Two of us are over 300 and my 19 year old is 240. We were comfortable, so you should be fine with kids.

Hope this helps!

I manage to do 255.8 on my last tank of gas. I will try and do the speed limit all the way in to work and home next time. I want to see if I can reach the 300 mark.

Hello.......i currently have a 2003 Nissan Xterra XE 4x4 that is paid off, i would be trading it in...........im thinking about upgrading to a Titan 4x4 king or crew cab (used, 04-06) in a few months, just trying do some research first........my current mpg is pretty low but i think its the big tires and slight lift..........i took a road trip this weekend and only got a touch over 13mpg averaging about 75mph.........if i decide to get a Titan (will be staying stock except maybe an exhaust) would it be safe to say that the mileage will be the same or slightly better with mixed driving? Im also considering the Frontier but i really want the bigger sized truck.........

Thanks,
Robb

You'll do a little better unless you get a Titan with the Big Tow package which has the lower geared rear end. Also don't let the frontier fool you when it comes to MPG. I had a 2000 Frontier with the 4 cylinder and manual 5 speed transmission and 20 was the best I could get. My 04 Titan gets 18 mpg driven in the same environment.

My 05 With Big Tow gets about 15=15.5 on the highway, while the 08 with no Big Tow gets ~17.5 @75-80. I don't consider that too bad when you consider the weight and power of the behicle.
