Nissan Titan Extended Warranty

Seems to be a popular question for those in the market for a new truck so as long term Titan owners I thought I'd get your thoughts on the subject. Anyone have it or have had it before?
Know what a good price is and is it better to get it from your dealership or your financial institution?

Not to mention its a good subject for the search engines.

I'm paying a little over 2K for mine (I'll check an invoice to let you know for sure; since my wife takes care of paying the bills) ....I think it's worth it, for the peace of mind that I'll be getting.

I had one and have it now. I use to own a '97 Montero and purchased the extended warranty when I bought it used. Got to about 75,000 mile and my front seat springs were giving out and popping through the leather. I used the warranty to replace the seats. I also needed a little tranny work around 80,000 miles and everything was covered! When I purchased my Titan I thought...this is a first year model (04) and 4x4 so I'll probably need it. I usually keep my cars and trucks for over 100,000 mile before I get a new one so an extended warranty is just a little extra protection.

I'll need to look up the cost but I know it's Nissan's gold plan.

I do not believe in extended warranties - view them as insurance policies. If the company builds a good product why is it needed? As a general rule, the manufacturers EWs are recommended over those offered by independent parties, though. My .

This is the first time I've ever bought one. There were few reasons why I decided to gamble against Nissan.
1) It was a first year introduction.
2) The Titan was Nissan's first full sized pick-up. So I was slightly concerned they might under build some of the components.
3) It was my first Nissan. I've mostly bought Toyota vehicles in the past. And even though everyone talked about how reliable they were, I knew they were not perfect ... so I had lower expectations for Nissan.
4) I had already read about the brake issue and the Radio issue before purchasing, and this wasn't a good sign.
5) This was my first 4x4 vehicle, and I had heard that they have more issues.
6) With so much of the vehicles computerized, and my lack of faith in the troubleshooting ability of most technicians, I figured the time and money involved for a electrical/electronic issue could be significant.
7) I had to buy a rebuilt transmission for the '88 Camry, before 100K miles, and it was around $1800 installed, so I figured major parts would be a lot more these days.

Can't remember where (Consumer Reports, maybe?) but they said Extended warranties are not worth the money. Really it's $1550 for 2 years (depending on how much you drive). The first 3 years/36k miles are covered.

But keep in mind, my company give me a tax free car allowance as long as the car is less than 5 calendar years old. So I keep flipping my vehicles. If I were keeping a new model I probably would have ponied up the $1550 also.

Never bought one....I plan to "keep" flipping vehicles until the "hybrid hydraulic" or similar concept with a longer bed is available.......
and then I might get the extended warranty if I "keep" the chariot.

This sounds close to what I paid too... well worth it.
