Question Bed Cover Suggestions

Well I've been thinking about cargo options on the new 2010 Titan I got 2 weeks ago and rather than getting another diamond plate tool box made up I'm thinking bed cover. Any suggestions? Brands or types I should stayt away from. I'd like either a flip type or a retractable type. I'm not too sure on the fiberglass "lid" style. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated. Heck if anyone has a used one in good shape that they would like to get rid of, let me know. It would have to be either Black or Smoke colored preferably.

I had a retrax and it was a quality cover. The only drawback in my opinion is that you loose about 10" in the front of the bed because the rolled up cover is there.

I've seen some others that fold up and can be removed if you need full access to your bed.

The hard covers, have a disadvantage to me if you ever need to haul something tall. You would have to remove the cover and leave it at home while hauling the tall items.

Maybe someone else will respond with recommendations.

Although I've wanted a Retrax cover every since my dad bought one for his F-150 and I seen for myself just how snazzy them suckers really are, they are a tad bit on the pricey side ..... before the Retrax, he had a very nice ARE fiber glass cover on his Power Stroke that stayed in very good condition for many years, but anytime he had to move his riding mower, refriderator or anything meaningful, he'd have to call on his favorite son to come over and assist him ... and he really hated that because I had a Dodge Dakota at the time and my dad REALLY hates Dodges .... and Nissans .... hahahahaha ..... I recommend the Retrax because it's useful ..... of course, there's those tri-fold type covers, but I've never had my hands on one of them .....

The retrax has been an awesome cover save for a few times during the winter where it freezes in place. Although I doubt that would be much of a concern anywhere near the Texas area. I would not trade mine for any other one out there.

Another cover worth looking at if you like the Diamond Plate look is the "Diamondback" unit. It comes in two models with one having a 400lb weight rating and the other able to carry a pair of ATVs on top of it. My buddy who also has a Titan, is very happy with it. I have no personal experience with this unit.

Yeah I looked at those, but way more $$ than I'm willing to spend. A local dealer in my area said that the SD cover which is the light duty cover was around $1100 and the HD series was arounf $1400. I've kind of strayed away from the idea after that tid bit of knowledge, plus I do haul things that are taller than the bedsides, and don't want to have to take it on and off for that application. All in all looks like a very well built and durable cover. It better be for that kind of money.

Those prices are what my friend mentioned. Maybe the RETrax will suit your needs.

Well I ended up going with the Extang Trifecta:

Extang Trifecta

Ended up getting it for $335 installed. Dropped the truck off this morning to get it put on, plus I'm gonna get the 2 front windows tinited to match the rears while the truck is there. I'll try and post up some pics sometime through the weekend.

I hope this meets your needs. I too, had the front windows tinted; but, in my case it was to state codes and is somewhat lighter tint than the factory back windows. Still, I am quite happy with it and it isn't so much of a difference as to matter to me.
