Frozen Door Latches

Well, it's 26 degrees this morning in Memphis and I'm fix'n to get off work .... I wonder if my door latches will work? ... I have my trusty ratcheting tie-straps ready just in case .... I run the strap between the inside drivers door to the inside passenger door handle and ratchet them closed because when the weather gets below freezing, the latches won't latch .... anybody else suffer through this every winter besides me?

You joke around so much, no one can tell fact from fiction in your post!

Get some graphite in alcohol and spray/coat the lock mechanism and that should prevent freezing up. Alternative is get all your weatherstriping checked/fixed. You need to ask yourself where all the moisture is getting to the lock works.

It ain't that .... it's the cables that run between the inside door handle and the latch that grabs the striker post ... the proper fix is to replace the '04 Titan cables with '06 Titan or newer cables .... I've done all the proper research and even have the part numbers along with a printed out paper from Nissan saying that they are sorry for my inconvienence and that they will gladly replace the cables at no expence to me .... the problem is that the inconvienence of using a ratcheting tie strap to hold my doors closed a few times a year hasn't out-wieghed the torture of sitting in the stealership waiting room for half a day while the repairs are being made ..... so in the mean time, I'll just keep belly-ache'n about it.

To each his own. Me, I'd rather spend the time in the Dealership, drinking their coffee, reading some decent mags, my book and test-sittin' in the new models. A one-time bother.

No, it's an XE thing as far as I can tell ... I'm not the only one afflicted with this curse ... The first year it happened, it really ????ed me off, and I took it to the dealership here in Memphis where I bought the truck and the service writer thought I was smoking drugs .. he had one of his flunkys spray WD-40 inside my doors making my truck stink (which really ????ed me off) .... the next morning, the same thing was happening, so I jumped in, tie strapped the doors shut, drove to the dealership without running the heater, drove into the service bay, jumped out, slammed the door and watched it bounce back open ... over and over and over .... several service writers and repair techs gathered around in total dis-belief .... after about 30 minutes of computer searching, he came up with a "service bullitan" about the cables needing replacing but they were on back order .... I haven't been back .... I look at my freezing door issue now as a nice little qwirk of Titan ownership.
