Reusable Oil Filters!

Last week I changed my oil again and every time I do now it's a real joy. I don't know if the rest of you that change your own oil have this same experience but I always seem to be on the look out for Mobil 1 oil on sale but oil filters are never a priority until I check the trip meter and see what the mileage is and then I never seem to have an oil filter even though I have 40 gallons of oil.

Now I don't have that problem, I have a reusable oil filter and I just can't say enough about it. It holds more oil, filters better than just about every paper oil filter on the market, has no bypass valve so the oil is constantly being filtered even at WOT (which with the Banks and the FramBoost is often now) and even if I should (Gawd Forbid) change to a different Make of truck I can just change out the top of the filter and it'll work on it too (FREE).

I have an Ultrafilter but the next one I get for the new Titan will be this.

What's the cost on one of these? I may upgrade when I run out of OEM filters.

Is there a cleaning process involved?

Why buy a new one for your new Titan. Just replace the filter with an OEM Nissan filter just before you sell.

After all , its a lifetime filter, Right? Just move it to your new Titan.

"Holds more oil". Do you run extra to compensate?

"has no bypass valve" Why do the OEM and many others have the bypass valve?

"the next one I get for the new Titan will be this. ..."
Why trufilter instead of your current Titan's ultra?

SteveS.... $150.00

Red..... The Wife wants this truck so I'm getting the new one.

Swarren1...... 7 quarts

It's in case the pressure drop (Lets say you don't change your filter often enough) across the filter exceeds a predetermined value (which varies depending on the engine application), the bypass valve opens so oil can continue to flow to the engine. Unfortunately this also allows unfiltered oil to enter the engine. Any contaminants that find their way into the crankcase will be pumped through the engine and accelerate wear.

Finally, the Trufilter is the same thing as the Ultra filter but it's cheaper.

These systems would work better if the filter was on the return side of the system and not the supply and we had a dry sump rather than a wet sump.

If oil filter fails, engine components are supplied from the previously filtered tank and do not have a diminished flow rate to bearings, etc.

Filter on supply side assumes tank is contaminated. Not true as tank contains oil source which is constantly filled with filtered oil coming in on the return line. Engine contaminants get filtered out before they have a chance to contaminate supply source in tank.

Too bad we have the worst of both worlds, wet sump and supply side filter.
