Catch Can

Well some of you now who Brad is from Relentless RPM, anyways he made a few catch cans for some of use titan guys to try out. I drained mine after a little over 4,000 miles and was surprised to see how much came out. Since its been on I have ran a few passes at the track, took a 1,500+ trip, Stop and go traffic, and city driving. Oh yea and me romping on it. And this is what came out.

Anyways there is a lot of use talking over on CT about how much came out cause no one expected to see this much. I got a buddy with on on his T and is going to drain it today and post pics. he will have right about 3,000 miles on his. So it will be a good comparison to see if its just my truck or if these catch cans just rock.

Brad Im going to copy one of your post over to here hope you don't mind it just explains the catch can a little on what it is to collect.

Brads Post from CT about it: "Catch Working as designed. These are oil/water separating catch cans. This is oil residue, fuel vapor, condensation, and combustion by products. It is allot more than i expected also. better out than in I always say."

Anyways just thought I would share with you guys and Will keep you updated with my buddies drained amount/pics.

Hmmmm so how does this work? Is it kind of like the water seperator I have for my air compressor and why si this something that should concern us? Performance or wear?

Thanks, I'd go look myself but the people who run CT and TT suck and I don't like paying to get rid of stupid ads. Just my opinion.

Here's the poop.

Quote:
This allows oil mist to enter the intake manifold causing undue carbon buildup on the piston tops and valve surfaces and detonation from the contaminated air charge. The catch can goes in-line in you OEM system and due to its design and surface area, condenses these vapors and mist droplets that then fall to the bottom of the can so only the water vapors, unburnt fuel, and combustion blow-by gasses enter as designed. The Result? Little or no oil contamination in the intake air charge and more consistant power and fuel economy. This can is a full one quart capacity, anything less is not as effective due to the surface area cooling needed for the vapors and mist to condense efficiently, and the perforated down tube that evenly disperse the vapors to contact as much surface area as possible. Draining is easy and no tools required.
(See Attachement below)

The thing that has me curious is if this stuff is so bad then how come it doesn't show up in an oil analysis?

What is happening here is that the catch can is intecepting the PCV circuit. Normally, these gaseous components would be burned in the combustion cycle and out the exhaust. Also, normal range of street driving wouldn't need the can, but I guess the extra time in a High Rev situation would throw out more "gunk" that would be caught by the can.

For my style of street driving, I don't have a need for this can.

So basically what he has in the cup would more then likely now be thrown on the ground or down the sink rather then burned by the engine as originally intended?

See, this is the kind of stuff I wouldn't allow on this site as a vendor but sites like the one that has this info are getting $$ so they just don't care. I saw where they are having a drawing at the site this came from (No link now) because it cost sooooooooooo much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to run the site but they have nothing in the way of software just a bunch of naive titan owners with nothing better to do with their money then give it away......................pitiful.

The site that this info came from is another spinoff of CT and TT and they are no different then the CT and TT they began at.

Looks like they got a taste and decided to cash in ..........Maybe I should cash in since people seem to have money to give to others that have no conscience????????????????????

I just don't get it????????????????????

Well you could just put it in with your oil and go dump it thats what I did. (Dump at the Auto parts store of course) Its just nice for people that run at the track. I mean its not a must have. I got it because I was curious how much would really get caught in it.
